What Are The Conditions?



Pokémon TCG has adapted the common effect conditions from the franchise’s video games to affect your card Pokémon. Learn about how they may affect Pokémon and your game play.


There are 5 conditions that Pokémon can be affected by asleep, burned, confused, paralyzed and poisoned. Each condition has different damage effects, is symbolised in play differently, and has requirements to be met for the condition to be removed.

Asleep

How is it symbolised?

The Pokémon affected has the card turned sideways in a counter-clockwise motion.


How does it damage/ effect the Pokémon?

No damage. If not woken up, you cannot attack or retreat with the asleep Pokémon.


How to remove the effect?

At the start of each turn, flip a coin to try to wake the Pokémon. If the coin flip lands on heads, the Pokémon wakes up and the card can continue play immediately. If the coin flip lands on tails, the Pokémon does not wake up and cannot continue play.

Burned

How is it symbolised?

Place the counter with the plaster next to the affected Pokémon.


How does it damage/ effect the Pokémon?

The affected Pokémon takes 20 damage between each turn.


How to remove the effect?

At the end of each turn, flip a coin to try to remove the burn effect, if the coin flip lands on heads, the Pokémon's burn is healed. If the coin flip lands on tails, the healing fails, and the Pokémon remains burned.

Confused

How is it symbolised?

The Pokémon affected has the card turned upside down.


How does it damage/ effect the Pokémon?

There is no immediate damage, but the Pokémon affected may gain damage when trying to attack. When attacking, a coin must be flipped. If the coin flip lands on heads, the Pokémon gains no damage, and the attack succeeds. However, if the coin flip lands on tails, the attack fails and the Pokémon attacking gains 30 damage.


How to remove the effect?

The affected Pokémon must be retreated or use a trainer card with the ability to remove the effect to heal confusion.

Paralyzed

How is it symbolised?

The affected Pokémon has the card turning sideways in a clockwise motion.


How does it damage/ effect the Pokémon?

There is no damage gained from the effect, but it lasts for 1 turn and the affected Pokémon cannot attack or retreat.


How to remove the effect?

The effect can be removed with the use of a trainer card that has the ability to remove the effect.

Poisoned

How is it symbolised?

Place the counter with the skull next to the affected Pokémon.


How does it damage/ effect the Pokémon?

There is no immediate damage. However, the affected Pokémon gains 10 damage at the of every turn while affected.


How to remove the effect?

At the end of each turn, flip a coin to try to remove the poisoned effect. If the coin flip lands on heads, the Pokémon's poison is healed. If the coin flip lands on tails, the healing fails, and the poison effect remains.
